Having increased sales by 16 percent in April compared to the same time period a year ago, Ford is continuing on a stellar upwards trajectory. Total U.S. sales for the month totaled 189,778 units, with retail sales up 10 percent and fleet sales up 31 percent.
Ford sales increased 24.5 percent year-over-year to 182,542 units:
Focus up 22 percent to 17,264 units
Fusion up 12 percent to 21,189 units
Mustang up 59 percent to 8,557 units
Explorer up 138 percent to 12,593 units, with a very impressive conquest rate of 43 percent
Escape up 11 percent to 21,240 units
Edge up 4 percent to 12,388 units
Econoline up 14 percent to 11,611
Transit Connect up 20 percent to 2,668
F-Series up 11 percent to 45,435 units. V6-equipped F-150s accounted for 50 percent of all F-150 retail sales, up from 40 percent in March
The largest increase of Ford brand sales was in California, where the Fiesta, Focus, and Explorer are attracting new customers. In April, CA sales of the Ford brand were up 34 percent, with year-to-date sales up 37 percent.
Year to date, Ford has sold 686,498 vehicles, a 16 percent increase year-over-year.
Lincoln sales dropped 0.6 percent year-over-year to 7,236 units. This marks the fourth consecutive month of decreased Lincoln sales. The only sales increases for Lincoln were accounted for by the MKZ and MKX:
