Ford F-150 EcoBoost Catching On

Ford’s EcoBoost V6 in the F-150 has been getting high praise for the combination of power and fuel economy it provides. The engine is also running up the sales charts faster than expected.

According to Ford powertrain spokesman Richard Truett, sales of the 3.5 EcoBoost V6 accounted for 35% of F-150 sales in April and 40% of current dealer orders are for the EcoBoost F-150.

The big jump in sales can be pointed towards the price of gas going up. The average price for a gallon of gas stands $3.93, a dollar increase from last year and looks like to go even higher. The EcoBoost in the F-150 gets an EPA rating 16/22 mpg city/highway and when properly equipped, can tow up to 11,300 lbs. Talk about a win-win situation.
