Ford Commits $1 Billion Into Lincoln Turnaround

It has become the “last chance” for Lincoln, Ford’s troubled premium brand that sold a mere 85,828 units last year. To make matters worse, sales are currently 8 percent lower than they were the same time a year ago, with even more bad news on the horizon when the automaker finally retires the archaic Town Car sedan.

But Ford has hinted to dealers to stay strong, as seven new Lincolns will make their way to their showrooms by 2015. However, before that happens, dealers need to commit to throwing in some major coin in order spruce up their showrooms, similar to what cross-town rival GM recently did with Cadillac. To assist in the renovations, FoMoCo will be trickling $1 billion to its Lincoln dealers to hopefully ease the pain. Here’s to a bright future for Lincoln? We hope so!
