Answered: Lincoln Has No Plans For RWD, Will “Focus On AWD” Instead

Lincoln has introduced a section on its newly-freshened Facebook Fan Page that allows users to ask questions and receive answers from officials at the brand. To our surprise, the first question is a directly related to Linc’s plans for a rear-wheel drive sport coupe: “Does Lincoln Have Plans For A RWD Sport Coupe?”

The answer?

“Presently we’re focused on all-wheel drive vehicles because they can deliver excellent performance and capability—particularly in inclement weather. AWD is a technology we’re going to expand on and develop for high performance vehicles.”

For our part, we submitted the following question:

“How does Lincoln plan to compete with established luxury brands such as Lexus?”

Let’s hope we get an answer… because personified whales are not the best strategy to compete with established luxury.

And in case you’re wondering about the vehicle we’ve pictured here, it’s the MK9 concept that was first shown in 2004… but obviously, didn’t see the light of day.
