Top Ford CEO Contenders: Four Names Emerge

Ever since 2008, when former Ford Vice President for human resources Joe Laymon leaked information about possible contenders to replace current CEO Alan Mulally, there has been quite the media buzz about who can replace arguably the best CEO in the industry today. Now, there is new information and speculation that points to four of the front-runners in this heated race. Those names are:

  • Mark Fields, 50, Ford’s President of the Americas
  • Lewis Booth, 63, Ford’s CFO
  • Jim Farley, 49, Ford Group Vice President of global marketing
  • Joe Hinrichs, 45, Group Vice President of Ford Asia Pacific and Africa

But as sources from Automotive News quoted Executive Chairmam Bill Ford, “he (Mulally) continues to do well” and also mentions that he “can continue to stay there as long as he wants.”

Mulally was an unlikely choice when he moved from Boeing to Ford in 2006, and just goes to show that automotive companies don’t always need “insiders” at the helm.

Who would you like to see run the Blue Oval upon Mulally’s departure? Sound off in the comments below!
