As part of its series of announcements related to the Super Duty line of pickup trucks at the State Fair of Texas today, Ford presented the updated 2015 F-450 Super Duty pickup truck lineup that delivers maximum towing and hauling capability. Changes for the upgraded 2015 truck include:
- A strengthened frame and suspension
- New commercial-grade 19.5-inch wheels and tires
- The addition of core work components shared with F-Series Super Duty chassis cab models
Ford’s Super Duty engineering team improved the F-450’s components to improve towing capability by doing the following:
- Upgraded rear driveline U-joints
- Upgraded suspension components, including new rear leaf springs, front and rear stabilizer bars and shocks
- Increased fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailer capacity
- Stronger steering gears and steering linkages
- Larger brakes shared with Super Duty chassis cab models, including wheel brakes, parking brake and new antilock brake calibration
- F-450-specific Power Stroke diesel engine calibration
Interestingly, Ford didn’t release any towing or hauling numbers for the upgraded F-450, so stay tuned as we do our best to acquire those, and update this article.
