Ford’s Myanmar Entry Part Of Broader ASEAN Growth Strategy

Having celebrated the official grand opening of the first Ford dealership in Myanmar and initiated appropriate training programs, Ford’s presence in the country will continue to grow as the automaker’s dealer partners plan to increase the amount of Ford retail locations throughout the country.

“We plan to expand with facilities in other markets across the country as business grows, with a goal of quickly establishing a nationwide footprint for sales, service and parts,” said Ko Ko Gyi, owner and managing director of Myanmar automotive retailer Capital Diamond Star Group.

The official entry of the Ford brand into Myanmar is part of Ford’s growth strategy for the ASEAN region, which represents a combined population of 600 million. In that regard, the move into Myanmar is the automaker’s latest step into Asia Pacific, which will help it more fully “realize the opportunity across the ASEAN region,” according Matt Bradley, president, Ford ASEAN.

The news comes on the heels of notable sales growth of the Ford brand in China during the month of September.
