Spied: 2015 Ford Mustang Convertible Caught With Its Top Down

Given the amount of heavy camo Ford has been using to cover up 2015 Mustang prototypes, previous spy photos may have already shown us the convertible variant without us knowing — but these new shots, posted by our friends at Autoblog show, show the new pony car with the top up and, for the first time, down.

From what we can tell, the windshield frame, side windows, and retractable soft top on the prototype model in the photos look very similar to those seen on the current model, although we believe that they’re all-new while hoping that engineers have cleaned up the appearance of the tops of the A-pillars where the roof latches on to the posts. Furthermore, the wheels seen in the prototype model are yet another variant of the split five-spoke design that have been present on non-SVT Mustang mules and prototypes of the past. And is it just us, or does the model in the pics not look much shorter than the current fifth-generation?

Whether we’ll see the convertible of the next-gen Mustang unveiled alongside the coupe in December, or later on the year — possibly taking place at the same time as the pony car’s official auto show release in New York in April — remains to be seen.

For now, feel free to head on over to Autoblog for the spy pics.
