The Eight Generations Of Ford Transit Vans: Video

Between 1965 and June 2013, Ford Motor Company has produced over seven million Transit vans spanning a total of eight generations, debuting a new generation of the Transit during the following years: 1965, 1971, 1978, 1986, 1994, 2000, 2006, 2012. Set to some pretty upbeat and inspiring music, the video below takes us through each of the generations of the world-famous family of vans:

The Motrolix Take

It’s not apparent unless observed in a back-to-back such as in the video above, but Ford has done an excellent job in progressing and evolving the design of the Transit line over time. It’s also true that each generation of the Transit has been better and more refined not only in its driving, capability, and performance, but also in the general design language. And now that the Transit is finally making its way to the U.S. of A, The Blue Oval should see an uptick in the line’s sales rate — allowing the automaker to reach the eight million mark quicker than ever before.

Which generation of the Transit is your favorite? Sound off in the comments.
