Ford China Sales Jump 55 Percent In October 2013

Ford Motor Company continued to grow sales in China at an impressive pace, selling 93,969 Ford vehicles in October 2013. The results represent a 55 percent increase from October 2012.

Sales highlights for the Ford brand include:

  • The Focus led October sales with 39,710 units sold in October, up 18 percent year on year and 48 percent year to date
  • The all-new Ford Mondeo launched at the end of August and sold 7,805 units in October
  • Ford EcoSport sold 6,484 units
  • Ford Kuga sold 9,604 units

Changan Ford Automobile (CAF), Ford’s passenger car joint venture in China, sold 70,173 units in October, a 61 percent increase compared to October 2012. Year-to-date sales reached 536,421 units, up 68 percent compared to January to October 2012.

Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), Ford’s commercial vehicle joint venture in China, posted October sales of 21,724 units, up 36 percent compared to the same period last year. Strong sales at JMC were driven by increased demand for the Ford Transit, which registered 6,036 October sales — up 19 percent compared to October 2012. Year-to-date sales for JMC reached 186,920 wholesale units, up 14 percent compared to the January-October time period last year.
