Ford Motor Company Moves To Trademark “BOXLINK”

Following recent trademark discoveries for terms like Ford Protect, Mode E, and Mach 1 that point to upcoming products or services from The Blue Oval, we’ve unearthed yet another FoMoCo trademark application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. This time around, the trademark in question is for the term “BOXLINK”.

Filed on December 13, 2013, the trademark filing is assigned serial number 86143165 and is under the “Structural parts for automobiles” category of goods and services.

The Motrolix Take

Although we can’t exactly figure it out, there’s something about the (obviously-made-up) “BOXLINK” word portmanteau that portrays a strong and tough connotation (aren’t we glad we had that semiotics lesson). To that end, the term would seem a good fit for a feature for Ford’s upcoming all-new (tougher and strong) 2015 F-150. Or it could be something completely different. Here’s to hoping we’ll find out soon enough.
