Andretti Autosport Teams With Volkwagen For Global Rallycross

When Andretti Motorsports Marketing organized the last round of the 2012 GRC in Las Vegas, and rumors began about Andretti himself getting in the game. During the same time, rumors started going around about Volkswagen building a 600 horsepower Polo Mk5 to race in the SuperCar class. Turns out the rumors were true, as Michael Andretti and Volkswagen are putting their heads together for Global Rallycross, officially, as Andretti Autosport will be out on the campaign trail with VW rally cars of their own during the 2014 GRC season.

Andretti Autosport is currently occupied with launching four entries for IndyCar, two for IndyLights and two for Pro Mazda. As for the GRC, it’s not sure what vehicle they will go with, but it would make sense to go with the new MkVII Golf.

“We are very excited to confirm our intent to compete with Volkswagen in Global Rallycross events, and look forward to sharing more details at a later date,” Andretti Autosport said in a statement.

Stay tuned to Motrolix.com for more information about these announcements as they are likely made at the Chicago Auto Show on February 6.
