For the first time since its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1999, Bugatti will put the original EB 18/4 Veyron design study on display for the public to see. The concept supercar will be shown at the Salon Retromobile in Paris from February 5 to 9.
When looking at the initial Veyron concept, which actually featured a W18 engine, it’s easy to see just how much the Bugatti engineers stuck to the original exterior and interior designs when constructing the production model in 2005. The EB 18/4 was one of four concept models Volkswagen produced under the Bugatti nameplate before coming up with the final production Veyron.
When the Bugatti Veyron did reach production, it had a 1001 horsepower, quad-turbocharged W16 engine, helping it break the existing production car top speed record held by the McLaren F1 by hitting a top speed of 408.47 km/h. The company broke their own record five years later with the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 SuperSport, which hit a top speed of 431.072 km/h, a record which still stands today.
