Volkswagen U.S. Sales Down 19 Percent To 23,494 Units In January 2014: By The Numbers

Volkswagen dealers sold 23,494 vehicles in the United States in January 2014, representing a 19 percent decline on an annual basis. Notably, sales of all Volkswagen models except for the Routan minivan built by Chrysler experienced a decline during the month.

“With our planned wind down of models in run-out, our January sales results were expectedly impacted,” said Mark Barnes, Vice President, Sales, Volkswagen of America, Inc. “Nonetheless, we’re optimistic we will see a steady pace in the months ahead as our Super Bowl advertisement, “Wings,” continues to raise awareness of the reliability and durability of our products, and we prepare to launch the next generation Golf family of vehicles.
