Given that Audi’s all-new 2015 A3 sedan is making its U.S. debut this month, the Four-Ringed brand has announced pricing of data plans for its new compact. In the U.S., Audi vehicles will utilize the AT&T 4G LTE network, and all A3 sedans equipped with the optional Audi connect system will receive a free six-months trial period of the 4G connectivity.
The two plans and their associated details are as follows:
TERM | TOTAL TERM COST | MONTHLY AMOUNT | DATA CAP | AVG DATA PER MONTH |
---|---|---|---|---|
6 MONTHS | $99 | $16.50 | 5 GB | 0.83 GB |
30 MONTHS | $499 | $16.63 | 30 GB | 1 GB |
According to Audi’s “previous experience with 3G+ Audi connect owners has shown they prefer either a 6-month or a 30-month term”. As such, the plans announced today are based on typical usage in a vehicle, and customers will be notified if they near the data plan limit via e-mail alerts. In adding 4G LTE connectivity, Audi is ensuring that everyone knows that it’s the first automaker to offer a Mobile Share data plan option to AT&T wireless customers. This allows users to add their vehicle to their existing AT&T Mobile Share plan, which shares data caps among various devices on a user’s account.
Audi has plans to roll out 4G LTE connectivity across its entire lineup as new or refreshed models come to market, but has yet to announce more specific information at this point.
