Need For Speed Mustang GT Hero Car To Cross Auction Block At Barrett-Jackson

The video game to movie adaptation, Need for Speed, will arrive in theaters on March 14, and Ford is giving the public a chance to own the film’s star, a heavily customized 2014 Mustang GT, when it rolls across the auction block on April 12 at Barrett-Jackson in West Palm Beach, Fla.

The Mustang features a custom designed wide bodykit, unique 22-inch Forgiato wheels, an enlarged lower grille with new air intakes, extended rocker panels, an aggressive twin-snorkel hood and low-profile mirrors.

The Mustang has the stock Coyote 5.0 liter V8 producing 420 horsepower, 390 lb-ft of torque, but it’s this car’s Hollywood connections that really make it desirable. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Henry Ford Health System, a not-profit group founded by Henry Ford.

“The new owner of this particular Mustang will take home a rare vehicle, and their bid will increase access to critical health care services,” said Steve Ling, North America car marketing manager for Ford.

Ford will have the 2015 Mustang and F-150 pickup on display at Barrett-Jackson Florida. The automaker is also offering ride-and drives at the auction in a range of models and a hot-lap experience in the 2014 Shelby Mustang GT500, Focus ST and Fiesta ST.
