Mercedes Teases AMG GT During New York Auto Show

Mercedes has been preparing a successor to its SLS AMG supercar, the Mercedes-AMG GT, and last night the German brand teased attendees of its New York International Auto Show reception with a photo of the interior.

The actual vehicle won’t debut until later in the year — either at the Paris or Los Angeles auto show. Still, Mercedes’ teaser shows a “dominant center stack” console with a shape reminiscent of a NACA scoop.

“The technological substance of the Mercedes-AMG GT underscores our high aspirations with regard to vehicle dynamics, agility and sportiness. Following the global success of the SLS AMG, the new GT is the second sports car developed fully independently by Mercedes-AMG. A first exclusive look at the design of the interior shows what is in store for our customers: a GT sports car in its purest form,” noted CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, Tobias Moers.

It appears that Mercedes is in the process of tweaking the positioning of the AMG brand, with Moers adding that, “The new Mercedes-AMG GT proves that we will be positioning AMG as a dynamic sports car brand even more strongly and aggressively than before”.

Stay tuned to Motrolix for AMG GT news as it trickles out.
