2015 Ford Transit Stars In “American Pickers”

Ford’s all-new Transit commercial van has earned a starring role in the American Pickers TV show, assisting Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz as they travel around the U.S. searching far and wide for lost gems to fix and resell.

“The biggest thing is, when the van is full, then we’ve got to come home. I’m interested in real estate on wheels,” said Wolfe during the episode that premiered last night. “There were four or five different vehicles I was looking at, and I just keep coming back to the Ford as the better choice.”

Built at Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant, the Transit is available in three body lengths, two wheelbases and three roof heights in van, wagon, chassis cab, and cutaway body styles in several trim levels. The Transit that Mike and Frank will drive is Ford’s largest model, with a long wheelbase, extended body, high roof, and Ford’s 3.2L Power Stroke five-cylinder diesel engine. The van featured on the show will also be equipped with a rear-view camera and available Reverse Sensing System, and feature a whopping 487 cubic feet of cargo volume, providing plenty of room for Wolfe’s and Fritz on their hunt.

For the adventurers out there, Ford also has a scavenger hunt-style contest to go alongside its debut in American Pickers.
