Ford China Sales Up 29 Percent To 96,829 Units In April 2014

Ford Motor Company and its partners delivered a total of 96,829 vehicles in China during the month of April 2014, representing a 29 percent year-over-year increase from the 75,315 units sold in April 2013. Strong April performance drove year-to-date sales to 368,150 vehicles, an increase of 41 percent from the 261,859 units sold during the same timeframe last year.

Changan Ford Automobile (CAF)

April sales at Changan Ford Automobile (CAF), Ford’s primary passenger car operation in China, were up 29 percent year-over-year to 68,119 vehicles. Year-to-date sales reached 263,317 vehicles, up 46 percent.

“We are gratified that customers continue to respond to the world-class Ford cars and utilities that we are offering in China,” said John Lawler, president, Ford China. “Together with our dealer partners, we are committed to continuing to serve our customers with the vehicles that best deliver quality, safety, fuel efficiency and smart technology.”

Sales of imported Ford vehicles, including the Explorer, Edge, Focus ST, and Fiesta ST, increased 72 percent year-over-year to 3,251 units. Year-to-date sales have more than tripled year-over-year to 12,249 vehicles, up 202 percent compared to the same period last year.

Sales of the new Mondeo (aka Fusion) grew more than fivefold in April to 10,476 units — up 415 percent from April 2013. Year-to-date sales have more than doubled year-over-year with 39,287 vehicles sold, up 125 percent from 17,549. Sales of the Focus grew 11 percent to 34,006 vehicles, while sales of the Kuga (aka Escape) grew 16 percent to 11,102 vehicles.

Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC)

April was also a strong month forJiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), Ford’s commercial vehicle operation in China. The organization delivered 25,459 vehicles in April, up 23 percent from April 2013. Year-to-date sales have reached 92,584 vehicles, up 20 percent year-over-year.

The Ford Transit led JMC sales growth during April with a 25 percent year-over-year increase in sales to 7,041 vehicles. Year-to-date, Transit sales were up nine percent year-over-year to 24,318 units sold.
