Ford Motor Company has exceeded the goal of itsSupplier Diversity Development (SDD) program for the fourth year in a row, purchasing a total of $8.9 billion from what it considers diverse suppliers, including:
- $6.5 billion in goods and services from minority-owned suppliers
- $1.8 billion in goods and services from women-owned businesses, and
- $600 million in goods and services from veteran-owned companies
To note, the goal of the automaker’s Supplier Diversity Development (SDD) program is to source at least 10 percent of its $50 billion U.S. purchasing budget with diverse production and non-production suppliers annually
“Ford has been a longstanding supporter of diversity in many forms, and this includes our supplier base,” said Hau Thai-Tang, group vice president, Global Purchasing. “These suppliers are an integral part of our overall growth and sustainability. They bring a fresh perspective that continues to lead to cutting-edge innovations and accelerate the development of new vehicles – vehicles that our customers want and deserve.”
