Volkswagen Brand Deliveries Reach 1.99 Million Units In First Four Months Of 2014

Global deliveries of Volkswagen-branded passenger vehicles grew to 1.99 million units during the January 2014 – April 2014 timeframe, an increase of 4.6 percent from the 1.91 million delivered during the same period in 2013. The steady increase in sales for the first four months of the year follows a global 6.8 percent increase for the month of April 2014, during which the VW brand recorded 513,400 deliveries.

Christian Klingler, Board Member for Sales and Marketing for the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, attributes the growth to “good sales developments in China and Europe” as well as “sustained high demand for products such as the Golf”, which is now in the seventh generation of its 40-year history. He notes, though, that “… the global market is still a mixed bag and therefore remains challenging.”
