2015 Ford Mustang Is Squatter, Wider And Heavier Than Outgoing Model

The all-new 2015 Ford Mustang is one of the most anticipated vehicles of the decade for good reason: it represents the first true redesign of the pony car in roughly a decade, while delivering updates, such as an independent rear suspension, that fans have been clamoring for for years. But how does the new Stang measure up to the outgoing fifth-generation model when it comes to its dimensions?

Interestingly, the two ponies are similar in many ways, especially in wheelbase and overall length, which are identical. But all that changes when we look at the height, width, and track measurements — with the new pony being squatter (shorter), and wider — both in the overall width dimension as well as the front and rear track measurements. Plus, the 2015 Stang is slightly heavier than the previous model. Have a look for yourself in this at-a-glance chart below.
