Seven Ways To Spend 33 Percent More Money On Fuel

More than ever before, fuel economy is one of the top considerations of car buyers the world over. All too often, however, we see drivers disappointed with the fuel efficiency of their vehicles, with some going so far as to trade in their current vehicle for a newer model, not realizing that they could easily improve the efficiency of their current vehicle. Here are seven very simple ways to decrease the efficiency of your vehicle, courtesy of Ford Motor Company:

  1. Leave your junk in the trunk and increase weight, which can waste up to 2 percent more fuel
  2. Load up your roof and trash your aerodynamics, which can waste up to 20 percent more fuel
  3. Ignore the signs and don’t shop around for cheap fue, which can be up to 7 percent more expensive
  4. Crank up the AC
  5. Don’t top up your tires: up to 4 percent of fuel wasted
  6. Don’t plan your journey
  7. Drive like a $#*(#@

All in all, doing the opposite of these seven steps will enable you to save up to 33 percent, or a potential €1,000 ($1,300) a year, on your fuel bills. And that’s exactly the goal… right?
