The 2015 Ford Mustang Weight Gain Is Not Definite

An initial statement by Steeda Autosports said that the new 2015 Ford Mustang gained two to three hundred pounds — raising many eyebrows, since  Ford has claimed the new Mustang will be lighter than its predecessor. Now, Steeda doesn’t seem to be so certain, as the company has updated its initial statement by basically retracting it.

As it turns out, instead of actually weighing the vehicle, Steeda just guessed that the car would weigh extra because of the current market trend involving adding extra safety equipment. Was Steeda really assuming, or did it receive a stern phone call from The Blue Oval’s communications department, causing the sudden change in its message? Who knows.

To note, Ford has made quite a big deal about its new 2015 Ford F-150 being lighter than the previous model, shedding roughly 700 pounds. Whether the new Ford Mustang weighs more or less than the previous model is unbeknownst to anyone at this point except to Ford itself, and it has yet to release any official weight numbers.

At this point, there’s one thing to be sure of, and that is that we will post any updates on this story, as well as the real weight numbers of the new Stang, as they become available. Stay tuned.
