Having priced the 2015 S3 Sedan from $41,100, Audi recently announced U.S. pricing for the A3 TDI Sedan. Powered by the VW Group’s ubiquitous 2.0-liter TDI engine making 150 horses and 236 pound-feet of torque mated to an S tronic dual-clutch transmission sending power to the front wheels, the oil burning compact sedan will start at $32,600.
To note, Audi delivered over 40,491 TDI vehicles in the U.S. since launching the diesel range in 2009. TDI vehicles, according to Audi, deliver “an average of 30 percent better fuel economy and range than their gasoline counterparts”, although the brand has yet to disclose exact fuel economy numbers for the A3 TDI Sedan. However, if the A3’s Volkswagen Group cousin — the VW Jetta TDI — is to serve as an indicator, then the Audi should be able to attain in the vicinity of 42 MPG on the highway.
Stay tuned as we learn more.
