Ford Opens $350 Million Transmission Plant In Chongqing, China

In June, Ford opened a new transmission plant in Chongqing, China. Part of its accelerated China growth plan, the $350 million USD (RMB2.2 billion) facility is the automaker’s first transmission plant in the Asia Pacific region.

Officially known as Changan Ford Transmission Plant (CAFTP), the plant will be able to produce 400,000 transmissions a year, which will help meet growing demand for Ford vehicles from Chinese consumers, according to Ford.
