2015 VW Beetle, Beetle Convertible See Two Updates

Besides keeping the legendary nameplate alive well into the 21st century with a vehicle worthy of the title, the Beetle has been a fairly good seller for Volkswagen. And for the 2015 model year, both the Beetle (coupe) and Beetle Convertible are receiving two changes that make them even more attractive. The changes include:

  • New EA288 four-cylinder TDI Clean Diesel engine
  • New, limited-edition Classic trim joins the Beetle lineup

The 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel TDI Clean Diesel engine will be replaced by the new EA288 2.0-liter diesel engine making 150 horsepower — 10 more than the outgoing model. When equipped with the optional six-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission, the TDI Beetle improves EPA estimated highway fuel economy from 39 to 41 MPG compared to the previous TDI Clean Diesel engine.

Meanwhile, the Beetle Classic is a new, limited-edition trim level joins the lineup and offers:

  • Unique seat fabric
  • Front lumbar supports
  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel, shift knob and parking brake
  • Three-color ambient lighting
  • RNS 315 navigation
  • Six-speed automatic transmission
  • Available wheels include 17-inch “Circle” aluminum-alloy wheels in white or black (depending on exterior color)
