Audi, AT&T Enable Owners To Add Vehicle To AT&T Mobile Share Data Plan

With the introduction of the 2015 Audi A3 sedan earlier this year, Audi partnered with AT&T to forge ahead with the first onboard 4G LTE service in the United States. Those who own an 2015 Audi A3 with optional Audi Connect system are able to purchase a 6-month data plan with 5GB for $99, or a 30-month data plan with 30GB for $499. Or, if you’re afraid of commitment, starting October 1st there will be a $20, 1GB monthly plan.

Also beginning October 1st, Audi and AT&T will offer another alternative: drivers of the 2015 Audi A3, S3, and Q3 will be able to add their vehicle to an existing AT&T Mobile Share Value plan for $10 a month — the same price as adding a tablet to one’s existing plan. This enables customers to use the same shared data plan for their Audi that they use for their phones and other devices, rather than purchasing a plan separately.

Starting October 1st for 2015 A3, S3 and Q3 models, data pricing options are as follows:

  • $99 for 6 months, 5GB of data
  • $499 for 30 months, 30GB of data
  • $10 per month for adding vehicle to an AT&T Mobile Share Value plan
  • $20 per month, 1GB of data

Honestly, we can’t for the life of us figure out what you’d actually need the Audi Mobile Share Value plan for. Name any function that the Audi Connect system with 4G LTE can perform, and the answer always seems to be “your phone can already do that.” And of course, we are obligated to warn you never to text, check facebook, or check email while driving.

But forge ahead, Audi and AT&T. Forge ahead.
