Porsche Announces GT3 Cup Experience

If you are a royal prince, the son of an oil tycoon, or a giant of Silicon Valley, allow us to tell you how to spend your time: the Porsche GT3 Cup Experience in Leipzig, Germany.

Porsche’s Sport Driving School has offered performance driving courses in the past on its own Leipzig test course, but for the discerning customer (with more expendable cash on hand) there is the faster, more hardcore Porsche GT3 Cup Experience. This course grants you a personal instructor to ride along around the track, as well as access to a purpose-built Porsche 911 GT3, like those used in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.

The car weighs in at around 2500 lbs – a figure that leaves no room for anti-lock brakes, traction control, or stability control – so the first few of the customer’s laps are driven by an esteemed racing instructor to demonstrate the desired line, shifting technique, etc. After that, the customer takes the pilot seat, and is given four stints of about 15 minutes each. Most helpful of all, each customer is given data logs of their many laps around the test track, so that the instructor can break down what maneuvers the customer has managed to dial-in, and what still needs work.

The Porsche GT3 Cup Experience is not a joy ride, after all, but serious racer training.
