2015 Ford F-150 Towing And Payload CapacitIes Set New Benchmark

The all-new 2015 Ford F-150 is raising the bar for capability once again with an industry-leading 12,200 pounds of towing prowess and a remarkable 3,300 pounds of payload. This capability is not only best-in-class, it is pretty remarkable for a half-ton truck. It’s important that — for the first time — the towing figure is SAE J2807 rated.

“Once again, 2015 Ford F-150 establishes new standards in durability, capability, technology and efficiency,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of The Americas. “We keep raising the bar on America’s favorite truck to help F-150 owners be more productive 24/7 – whether for work or weekend fun.”

Ford says the new truck is the toughest, smartest and most capable F-150 they have ever built. It is easy to see why with the up to 700 pound weight reduction due to the massive use of aluminum among other things, towing and hauling capacity which are substantially higher than other trucks, a slew of new technology features and fuel economy expected to rise 5 to 20 percent depending on configuration and engine. Theoretically, that could mean a 27-28 mpg highway truck in terms of fuel economy for the 2015 Ford F-150.

The slew of new 2015 Ford F-150 technology features includes: 360-degree camera, integrated loading ramps, park assist, remote tailgate and trailer hitch assist.

With the EPA fuel economy numbers coming in November, the information so far points to the 2015 Ford F-150 being the best half-ton truck on the market, spec-wise, to-date.
