The Arrival Of The 2016 Audi A4 Is Right Around The Corner

We’ve only recently started to see pre-production prototypes of Audi’s next-generation A4, but according to a new report from Motoring, the all-new compact sedan could make its debut as early as the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show next September.

The new A4 will ride on Volkswagen’s revamped MLB architecture, which will also underpin future Volkswagen and Porsche models. The platform’s use of aluminum, high strength steel and different composites will make the new A4 100 kg lighter than the outgoing model while improving structural rigidity.

Many of the same diesel and cylinder engine options will remain for the new A4, while the performance RS4 variant is said to be ditching its 4.2-liter V8 in favor of a forced-induction V6.  Both six-speed manual and seven-speed dual clutch transmissions are said to be on offer along with front- and all-wheel drive.

The 2016 A4 should go on sale in late 2015 or early 2016, with the RS4 version going on sale a short time later.
