Galpin Auto Sports Creates 50th Anniversary Mustang Tribute: SEMA 2014

Galpin Auto Sports (GAS) will debut a golden anniversary Mustang show car to celebrate 50 years of America’s original pony car. Along with the Petty’s Garage 2015 Mustang and over a dozen custom Mustangs will be in Ford‘s 20,000-square-foot booth at the Las Vegas Convention Center during the 2014 SEMA show, which runs November 4th – November 7th in Las Vegas.

Those not familiar with GAS should note that it is a branch of the Galpin Ford family — America’s biggest Ford dealership — out of suburban Los Angeles, and the GAS Anniversary Mustang features metallic gold-flaked black paint with gold trim and badges. Both the front and rear fascia are tweaked as well. The interior and special wheel calipers have also been “Galpinized.” To top it all off, a gold powder-coated Whipple supercharger pumps the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 up to 725 horsepower.

Of course, the 2015 Ford Mustang marks a change for aftermarket companies due to the new mechanical components. The new Mustang includes an all-new independent rear suspension (not seen since the late Mustang Cobra) with new multilink front suspension that is currently being tweaked by the likes of Roush, Steeda and others. The 2014 SEMA show should be chock full of debuts of tweaked 2015 Mustangs, but don’t be surprised to see tuners exploring the potential of the all-new 310-horse 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder.
