Remember when getting into the 12s was time to high-five your friends? Those days are long over − witness the factory-built 600+ horsepower Shelby GT500 from the last-gen Mustang. We know the 2015 Mustang GT dips into the 12s bone stock, but the wild card in the Mustang roster is the EcoBoost turbo-four. It remains to be seen how popular it will be with American audiences, but some enterprising folks have embraced the motor and are running 11-second ETs.
Two weeks after Livernois Motorsports began working on performance tuning for the EcoBoost motor, the tuning company has managed to shave two seconds off the stock performance times. Here’s a list of the upgrades according to Livernois, for those of you who keep up with that stuff:
- Livernois Motorsports Custom Tuning for race gas via MyCalibrator tuning device
- Slicks and skinnies
- Removed passenger seat
- Removed factory catback
The MyCalibrator tuning device, which starts shipping next week, holds up to 50 custom tune files for performance measurements.
Watching the below video, you’ll notice the EcoBoost Mustang turns a brisk 11.81 @ 114 mph, but this Stang is no one-trick pony − right after, it runs a 11.83 @ 115 mph ET. Livernois Motorsports says this is the world’s first 11-second EcoBoost Mustang, as well as the quickest and fastest. Who are we to argue?
