On October 25th, Porsche Sound Night 2014 was held in Germany, inviting an audience to come and listen to a slew of historic Porsche sports and racing cars from throughout the years.
We have always felt that the annual Porsche Sound Night is a splendid idea: get together a field of spectators to experience notable cars from the history of the marque via one of the most visceral, basic sensations the cars have to offer.
The video below allows you to listen your way through the Porsche Sound Night 2014 highlights, from the classic 356, to what looks like a 718 open-wheel race car, through various iterations of racing 911s and other purpose-built race cars. The video is in German, so identifying some of the Porsche race cars that hit the stage requires either a working knowledge of historic Porsche racing efforts, or a basic ability to understand the language.
But as the description on Porsche’s YouTube channel says, the engine notes of Porsche Sound Night 2014 need no translation; every opening of the throttle universally communicates the raw power, heritage, and exhilarating performance of the machine that produces it.
