Volkswagen Passenger Cars delivered 5.08 million vehicles in the first 10 months of 2014, setting a new delivery record for the time period. The results represent a 2.6 percent increase compared to the 4.95 million vehicles the brand sold in the same January 2013 – October 2013 time frame.
The brand delivered 517,400 units in October 2014, down 0.4 percent compared to the 519,300 units delivered in October 2013. The drop is the result of “very volatile markets”, according to the automaker.
“Deliveries by the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand developed satisfactorily in the period to October – even though conditions in some regions were at times uncertain”, Christian Klingler, Board Member for Sales and Marketing for the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand. “Developments in Western Europe, where the new Passat will go on sale in the coming weeks, remained positive. As a result, we are on track to deliver more than six million vehicles for the first time”, Klingler added.
