Audi A3 Sportback E-Tron Receives Highest Possible European NCAP Rating

The Audi A3 Sportback e-tron plug-in hybrid, which will go on sale in the United States by mid-2015, has received the highest possible crash test rating from the European NCAP group in all areas of testing, according to Autoblog.

The Sportback e-tron received a five-star crash test rating in the front, side and rear collision tests, and was also recognized for its “multi collision brake assist,” feature, which engages the car’s brakes in the event of a collision to help prevent it from rolling away or hitting another vehicle.

The test results put the A3 Sportback e-tron, Audi’s first-ever production plug-in hybrid, among the safest cars in its segment for Europe. The car will receive a US market rating close to its American market launch, expected to happen in the second-quarter of next-year.
