Ford Motor Company’s market share dropped 0.2 percent to 7.0 percent in October 2014 in the European Union on sales of 78,110 vehicles, according to figures provided by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association. The results fly in the face of the Blue Oval posting a 4.0 percent year-over-year increase in sales during the month, signifying that the industry grew at a faster clip of 6.2 percent than Ford did, enabling competitors to take market share from The Blue Oval.
For the first 10 months of the year, Ford’s market share in the European Union was flat at 7.0 percent, on sales of 816,086 vehicles. Ford sales grew 6.3 percent for the January – October 2014 timeframe, while the industry grew at a 5.9 percent clip.
