Nico Hülkenberg Fitted For His Porsche 919 Hybrid

A while back, we reported on the news that Porsche is planning on fielding a third 919 Hybrid at the 24 Hours of Le Mans next season. While that hasn’t changed, our original piece regarding this news falsely assumed that the third car would be driven by two of Porsche’s current field of six LMP1 drivers.

In actual fact, one of the drivers of this third 919 Hybrid will be none other than Formula One racing driver Nico Hülkenberg. The Incredible Hülkenberg™ had his first tour of the car earlier this week, according to sportscar 365, and had his seat fitted, in precedent of track testing to occur later this month.

Originally scheduled to drive the 919 Hybrid in the Spa-Francorchamps as well – the only other race for which this third entry has been confirmed – a Formula One race in Korea may not permit him to do so. Porsche GT factory drivers Michael Christensen, Fred Makowiecki, and Nick Tandy are also anticipated to be tested again in the 919 Hybrid, one of them likely earning the other open seat during the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans.
