Ford Fiesta Banned From SCCA Events Due To Rollover Risk

Autocross is a great entry level form of motorsports, especially thanks to organizations such as the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) that allow for almost any street-legal vehicle to romp around the cones and crack a few times. That’s almost any, because the SCCA has just added the Ford Fiesta to the list of vehicles it does not allow at its events due to the risk of roll-over.

Publicized in the latest issue of the SCCA’s Fast Track News Bulletin, the removal is the result of the Fiesta not meeting the requirements. The ban applies to all Ford Fiestas from the 2011 model year, but does not exclude the Fiesta ST.

The Fiesta joins other small hatchbacks and crossovers on the disallowed list, including the Dodge Caliber, Fiat 500, Scion xB and iQ, Nissan Juke and Mini Countryman. Our friends at AutoBlog have reached out to Ford and the SCCA for comment, but have not heard back at this time.
