Robb Report Names The Porsche 918 Spyder “Car Of The Year”

If you’ve never heard of Robb Report magazine, it’s likely because you’re not a member of the jet set. Too busy holding an underpaid job and contributing to society, no doubt.

[Which reminds me; quit reading this and get back to polishing my solid Unobtainium cuff links, you Plebeian. -ed.]

The Robb Report is a magazine “advertorial,” which blends editorial prose with advertisements for expensive products intended for the 1 percent. And now, on the heels of the Detroit North American International Auto Show, the magazine has named the  the Porsche 918 Spyder its official 2015 Car of the Year.

Of course the staff would select the most expensive Porsche ever built as their top choice. In fact, the example tested by Robb Report weighed in at $1.2 million with upgrades – well above the (already lofty) $845,000 base price. But how the magazine’s judges came to select the Porsche 918 Spyder over something comparably priced that they might be more comfortable in (Bentley, Rolls-Royce, private G6…) is unknown.

What we do know is this: we honestly couldn’t care less.

Aaron Birch is an automotive enthusiast and writer/filmmaker from Detroit, MI. As a rule, he only buys cars older than himself.
