RUF Turbo R Mangled In The Streets: Accident Watch

The RUF Turbo R is inarguably one of the greatest corporeal forms that the Porsche 911 has ever taken. It was built using the Type-993 Porsche 911, the last of the great air-cooled Porsches.

So, the fate that befell this particular example of RUF Turbo R is a tragedy in every sense of the word.

According to the guys at Road & Track, the car was part of a group drive of Rennlist.com members that struck a late-model pickup truck on the road. A Type-997 Porsche 911 was also involved in the crash, but seems to have gotten away with mostly cosmetic damage.

Oh, that the RUF Turbo R could have been so lucky. The car’s scarcity and special equipment, of course, would make it all the more expensive to repair regardless of the level of damage. But looking at the (likely frame-bending) impact that this example has endured, we here at Motrolix have our doubts as to whether the majestic RUF Turbo R will ever prance again.

Quite a shameful end for one of the greatest offsprings of the Porsche 911 ever to grace the earth. R.I.P. RUF Turbo R.
