Porsche At Geneva 2015: Two Track-Oriented Unveilings?

If you didn’t already know, SPOILER ALERT: Porsche will be unveiling the Cayman GT4 top-of-the-line performance coupe at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

But according to Autoblog, the manufacturer has confirmed that they will be unveiling a second track-centered performance sportscar.

So what is this second, wheeled Germanic toy we will we be seeing from Porsche at Geneva? We don’t know. Says the manufacturer: “The second new model is another exceptional Porsche that sets new standards on the racetrack… This vehicle confirms the sports car manufacturer’s commitment to high performance sports cars that manage a very special link between everyday driving and motorsports.”

Needless to say, based on the word choice of this quote, it won’t be another hot crossover or sedan that we’ll be seeing from Porsche at Geneva. That leaves us with two fathomable possibilities: the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, or a Boxster counterpart to the aforementioned Cayman GT4.

Autoblog also speculates on a third possibility as to what we could see from Porsche at Geneva: namely, a more track-oriented version of the Porsche 918 Spyder, to take on the McLaren P1 GTR and Ferrari FXX K. But that seems rather unlikely to us, as Porsche has sold out its entire 918-unit production run of the super-hybrid, and we have no reason to believe that they’d be starting back up again.

Seeing as the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is the only car beside the Cayman GT4 of which we’ve received statements from the manufacturer and seen prototypes testing, that would be our best guess. But who knows? We’ve certainly been surprised in the past.
