U.S. Full-Size Pickup Truck Sales Up 8.1 Percent To 2.06 Million Units In 2014

Fueled by a recovering economy and other positive economic indicators, sales of full-size pickup trucks increased 8.1 percent to 2,066,248 units during calendar year 2014 in the United States.

Fiat-Chrysler’s Ram as well as General Motors’ completely-redesigned Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks were the big winners for 2014, recording increases in year-over-year sales volume and market share. Ford’s F-Series posted decreases in sales volume and market share as Ford transitioned to the all-new 2015 F-150, while remaining the best-seller in the segment. Toyota’s Tundra, which received a substantial refresh for the 2014 model year, posted an increase in year-over-year sales volume but lost market share, while Nissan’s Titan saw sales and market share slip; the automaker introduced an all-new Titan at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
