2005 Ford GT Driven By Carroll Shelby Being Sold For $500,000 On eBay

Update: the auction has ended and it doesn’t appear to have sold. If we were the buyer, we’d re-list it at a slightly lower price.

Ah, what we wouldn’t do to get our hands on a marvelous car like the new new Ford GT. But its predecessor is also a marvelous car, like for instance this 2005 Ford GT we found for sale on eBay.

What makes this already highly-coveted vehicle even more desirable is that it was actually driven by the late Carroll Shelby, making it one of the most exclusive supercars money can buy. So exclusive, in fact, that it’s being offered for sale at a hefty price of half a million dollars.

Though the all-new, second-generation 2017 Ford GT uses a twin-turbocharged V6 EcoBoost motor, a supercharged 5.4L V8 putting down 550 horses and 500 pound-feet of torque was utilized in the first-gen Ford GT. On the outside, this example wears silver with black stripes, complementing the GT’s styling that combines modernity with the retro looks of the GT40 to (arguably) create one of the most attractive vehicles ever. It wears the stunning silver hue with black stripes, which also happens to be the most rare regular production color on a first-gen Ford GT.

With only 465 miles on the clock, this unit is basically brand new. In fact, the black leather interior is still wrapped as shown in the photos of Mr. Shelby driving it off the production line. The original invoice bares Mr. Shelby’s signature as a reminder that this isn’t just a Ford GT, it’s a grand piece of automotive history.
