In case you found Chris Harris’ video review of the new Porsche Cayman GT4 to be too sparse on details, Autocar published their own, wherein Matt Prior wrings the car out on the track: exactly what the Cayman GT car was made for.
Once again, we get to experience the massive sound, speed, and cornering of the excellent Porsche Cayman GT4 – albeit vicariously. Prior, like Harris, struggles to come up with anything negative to say about the car. His general sentiment is that finally, Porsche has done with its mid-engined model what it’s been doing with the 911 for all these years.
We think there are plenty of legitimate reasons to want the Porsche Cayman GT4 over any 911. Sure, the car fails to surpass any but the base 911 Carrera in terms of power and straight line performance, but it possesses a more “ideal” engine layout, so that in terms of pure driving bliss, it ought to more than make up for the deficit.
