Ford Global Designers Talk About Their Presence At Salone Del Mobile: Video

It’s perhaps a bit unexpected to see an automaker at the world’s largest furniture fair in Milan, Italy. That’s not just our assessment; it’s informed by the fact that Ford’s global design staff were the only automotive industry designers present at the 2015 Salone del Mobile.

We could speculate endlessly as to why that is. Perhaps Ford plans on introducing a line of GT-inspired home furnishings in the near future? Or maybe the automaker is simply shopping around for the freshest styles in office furniture for a future Glass House makeover.

Alas, we don’t have to speculate; here to tell you in their own words why the Ford Motor Company was present at the 2015 Salone del Mobile is some of the marque’s top global designers. Featured in the video are Senior Designer Rafael Rego, who designed the Ford GT-inspired foosball table exhibited at the show, and Digital Sculptor Russell Sims, who designed a very memorable, futuristic GT-influenced sailboat.

So why did Ford invite its Global Design staff to submit items to the 2015 Salone del Mobile in Milan? And how did the new Ford GT influence their work? Watch the video to find out.
