In March, Ford Motor Company announced a recall involving certain model year 2013-2015 Lincoln MKT vehicles with a limousine and hearse prep package over an issue with the vacuum pump relay.
The problem: in the affected vehicles, the vacuum pump relay may overheat due to an internal fault or contamination. If the vacuum pump relay overheats, there is an increased risk of a vehicle fire.
Affected vehicles: 2013-2015 Lincoln MKTs with a limousine and hearse prep package, manufactured March 6, 2012, to March 10, 2015.
Number of vehicles affected: 1,549.
The fix: Ford will notify owners and dealers will replace the vacuum pump relay with a new electro-mechanical relay free of charge.
Owners should: the recall is expected to begin May 11, 2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administrations (NHTSA) and reference:
