Henry Ford Receives ‘Golden Gear’ Award For Outstanding Business Contributions

One hundred and eleven years after Henry Ford founded the Ford Motor Company, he and his namesake have been recognized for their “outstanding contribution to the automotive industry”.

Ford, who famously revolutionized the automotive industry by bringing cars to the masses, was recently honoured at the Washington Press Association’s 30th Anniversary Gala with the ‘Golden Gear’ award.

“Henry Ford left us with quite a legacy, and the Ford team continues driving innovation through every part of our business to improve people’s lives. This is what has always defined us as a company. Through innovation, we are changing the way the world moves,” said Jim Holland, vice president, Vehicle Components and Systems Engineering, Ford Motor Company, who accepted the award for the company.

Most recently, The Blue Oval has been “carrying on the legacy of its founder” with its new “business innovations” like the EcoBoost engine family and the lightweight aluminum alloys used in the all-new 2015 F-150 line. And though the FoMoCo of today looks to draw parallels between Henry’s business efforts and its own modern business philosophy, you can be sure it’s keen to keep some of his (supposed) skeletons firmly in the closet.
