New Ford Taurus Spied Undergoing Testing In Michigan

A prototype version of the new Ford Taurus set to debut at the Shanghai auto show next week has been caught testing. The nose of camouflaged prototype vehicle is more squared off than the current U.S.-spec model, more akin to the Lincoln Continental Concept, while the rear end’s slimmed down and more horizontal profile also appears to pull inspiration from the storied Linc.

The next-gen Taurus will ride on a stretched version of the CD4 platform that underpins the Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ. The stretched variant of the platform, which is available in front- and all-wheel drive configurations, will serve as the basis for not only the new Taurus, but also the second-generation Lincoln MKS. At this point, however, it’s too early to say for sure.

Check out the spy shots here and stay tuned as more info on the new Taurus is released following its Shanghai debut on April 20.
