Sixth-Generation Volkswagen Transporter Van To Soon Be Upon Us: Video

Buckle-up. We’ve got news that’s going to change everything, forever:

A new sixth-generation Volkswagen Transporter commercial van is coming.

Of course, we only know this because of the teaser video below, released to the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles YouTube channel. And, it should be noted, VAG isn’t exactly giving anything away; we don’t know precisely when the new T6 platform will arrive, nor any technical details of the changes, nor even what, beside the Volkswagen Transporter commercial van, will ride upon it. The current T5 platform supports such varied commercial vehicles as a panel van (and highroof variant), pickup truck, and a shuttle, as well as being offered as a cab chassis for coach builders to do with as they will.

Of course, the Volkswagen Transporter commercial-duty van and its stable mates haven’t been sold in the United States since around 2003, so this news might be of limited concern to our American reader-base. The reason for this is a punitively high tariff placed on the commercial vehicles.

But our non-US citizen readers might very well find the coming Volkswagen Transporter T6 platform of some interest, seeing as it underlies everything from delivery vans to commercial trucks, to minibuses, to taxi, police, fire, and ambulance vehicles in Europe.

Think you’re excited now? Just wait until you watch the video:
